Grounding Strategies for Anxiety and Depression
Grounding is a set of strategies that can help you detach from emotional pain (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, anger and sadness to name a few). These strategies are a way to detach from the pattern of negative thinking and behaviours by interrupting the pattern and gain control over your feelings and thoughts to prevent things from getting worse. Essentially grounding anchors your mind back to your physical body and in doing so you have a chance to calm down and use your mind to think in present terms allowing you to address the challenges that is triggering the unpleasant emotions to begin with.
